Privacy Policy
GolfDock's canonical privacy notice for the app, website, course/operator platform, social and Round Discovery features, watches, subscriptions, support, and safety workflows.
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how GolfDock collects, uses, shares, protects, and retains personal information across the GolfDock mobile app, website, course/operator tools, golf GPS and scoring features, social features, leagues/events, Round Discovery, watch/device features, AI Caddy, subscriptions, notifications, and support channels.
2. Account identity and profile
GolfDock may collect your email address, username, display name, profile details, account settings, and optional phone or contact information you choose to provide. We use this information to create and secure your account, identify you in permitted GolfDock experiences, communicate with you, personalize the service, and support account recovery. Account information is shared with infrastructure, authentication, email, and support service providers only as needed to operate those functions. Core account records generally remain while the account is active and may be retained for a limited period after deletion when needed for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or backups.
3. Golf profile and equipment
GolfDock may process handicap information, home-course preferences, club and bag information, club-distance information, profile settings, and related golf preferences. We use these fields to provide golf features such as scoring, statistics, course experiences, club selection, and AI Caddy personalization. These records generally remain with your account until changed or deleted, subject to legitimate retention needs.
4. Round, score, competition, and performance data
GolfDock may collect scores, holes played, tees, putts, fairways, greens in regulation, penalties, round history, course selections, playing partners, league/event participation, leaderboards, shot records, club distances, and other golf-performance information you create through the service. We use this information to run rounds, calculate stats, show histories and leaderboards, support competitions, synchronize participants, and improve golf features. Some round or competition information may be visible to other participants, friends, league members, event administrators, or course operators according to the feature and permissions used.
5. Round Discovery and Location Privacy
Round Discovery is limited to users who confirm they are 18 or older. Discovery is organized around golf courses and scheduled rounds. With permission, GolfDock may use precise or approximate device location to support golf GPS/yardages, nearby-course ranking, course discovery, and to calculate approximate distance or course-centric matching for Round Discovery. Another golfer’s precise live device GPS coordinates are not publicly shown through Round Discovery. Discovery records may include age-eligibility state, preferences, hosted rounds, join requests, accepted participants, visibility choices, and block/report or safety-enforcement records. Blocking/reporting records may be retained when reasonably necessary to enforce safety, prevent abuse, investigate fraud, or comply with law.
6. Location and GPS outside Round Discovery
When you enable location access, GolfDock may process precise or approximate location from your phone or connected watch to show golf yardages, identify nearby courses, support live rounds, map or confirm shots, estimate distances, and improve course geometry. Some location samples may be used only during an active feature, while location-derived golf records such as a confirmed shot or mapped round may remain as part of your round history. If location permission is disabled, GPS, nearby-course, watch-yardage, or shot-related features may not work correctly.
7. Social and user-generated content
GolfDock may process friendships, friend requests, messages, shared rounds, league and event content, profile content, feedback, reports, and other text, images, or content you submit. We use this information to deliver the social or competition feature, allow intended recipients or groups to view it, support moderation, and investigate misuse. Users are responsible for what they submit. Content may be removed, restricted, or preserved when reasonably necessary for safety, legal compliance, abuse prevention, or dispute handling.
8. Safety, reports, blocks, and moderation
GolfDock may collect reports, block relationships, moderation decisions, evidence or context needed to evaluate a report, and records of warnings, restrictions, suspensions, or removals. These records are used to protect users, enforce the Terms and Community Guidelines, prevent block evasion, investigate fraud or abuse, and comply with legal obligations. Safety records may be retained longer than ordinary user content when that retention is reasonably necessary for platform integrity, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or protection of users.
9. Photos, screenshots, and submitted media
If you choose to upload or select media, GolfDock may process profile photos, feedback screenshots, course-related images, or other content you intentionally provide. Core scoring does not require broad photo-library access. For priority nonconsensual-intimate-content removal requests, GolfDock asks users to identify where the content appears and not to repeatedly upload or resend the prohibited image through the public form.
10. Watch and device information
When you use supported Apple Watch or other connected-device functionality, GolfDock may process device type, operating-system/app version, round state, score updates, GPS or distance context, synchronization state, connectivity information, and operational diagnostics needed to provide and troubleshoot the feature. Device/watch data is shared only with providers needed for device, infrastructure, notification, or support operations and is retained according to the underlying round, account, or diagnostic purpose.
11. AI Caddy and automated features
GolfDock AI Caddy may use golf-specific information such as your bag, club distances, scores, shot history, weakness/focus history, course context, and prompts you submit to generate suggestions. Current backend source uses Google Gemini models for Caddy generation. Information sent to an AI provider is limited to what is reasonably needed for the feature. Do not enter sensitive personal information into AI prompts. Generated outputs and limited generation/accounting records may be retained to provide caching, personalization, anti-repetition, quota, safety, and operational controls.
12. Purchases and subscriptions
For iOS subscriptions, Apple processes the purchase and GolfDock receives information needed to validate and maintain entitlement, such as product, transaction, subscription, renewal, environment, or status identifiers. GolfDock does not receive the full payment-card number used for an Apple purchase. Website/course payments may be processed by Stripe when those billing flows are enabled; GolfDock may receive billing contact, transaction, subscription, refund, dispute, and status information needed to provide the paid service and maintain financial records. Deleting a GolfDock account does not by itself cancel an Apple subscription.
13. Notifications and communications
GolfDock may collect device push tokens and notification preferences to deliver service messages, invitations, round/league updates, safety notices, and other enabled notifications. Current backend source includes Expo push delivery. GolfDock also uses email infrastructure for support, account, course, billing, privacy, and legal communications. Push tokens are generally retained until replaced, invalidated, disabled, or no longer needed for the account.
14. Diagnostics, usage, security, and website analytics
GolfDock may collect device/app version, operating system, IP-derived security information, authentication events, crash or error details, performance data, feature interactions, and operational logs needed to secure, debug, and improve the service. The website uses Vercel infrastructure and may use Vercel Analytics/Speed Insights and optional Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager only when configured and allowed by the website consent controls. Public form IP addresses are one-way hashed for abuse/rate-limit protection rather than stored as raw form-control identifiers.
15. Service providers and current data flows
Current GolfDock source reflects use of Supabase for database/authentication/infrastructure functions; Apple for App Store purchases and Apple-device services; Google services for course/place or geocoding functions and Gemini AI generation; Expo for push delivery; Stripe for enabled website/course payment flows; Vercel for website hosting/performance/analytics capabilities; and Gmail/Nodemailer-based email delivery for website support and operational messages. GolfDock may change processors as the product evolves, but we disclose and use service providers according to the function they perform. We do not give processors permission to use GolfDock personal information for their own unrelated purposes.
16. No sale of personal information or targeted advertising
GolfDock does not currently sell personal information and does not currently use personal information for cross-context behavioral or targeted advertising. Website privacy controls remain available so GolfDock can honor applicable consent and opt-out choices and can avoid enabling optional analytics or marketing storage without the required choice.
17. Retention principles
GolfDock keeps information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose it was collected, to provide an active account or requested service, maintain score/competition integrity, satisfy financial or app-store record needs, enforce safety, investigate abuse or fraud, resolve disputes, meet legal obligations, or maintain limited backups. Retention periods differ by data category. When information is no longer reasonably needed, GolfDock may delete, de-identify, aggregate, or securely expire it according to operational and legal requirements.
18. Your privacy choices and requests
Depending on where you live and applicable law, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, a portable/export copy, information about processing, or applicable opt-out choices. GolfDock may verify identity before fulfilling a request. Use the Privacy Requests page for the structured workflow. You can also manage device location, notification, photo, and other permissions through your device or GolfDock settings where available.
19. Children and Minors
GolfDock accounts are intended for users age 13 and older. Users under 13 should not create a GolfDock account. Round Discovery is limited to users who confirm they are 18 or older. GolfDock does not use a Discovery date-of-birth field in the current backend contract; it uses eligibility state and safety controls. Features involving social interaction, Discovery, reports, or moderation may apply additional access and safety restrictions based on eligibility and platform rules. If GolfDock learns that an ineligible user is using a restricted feature, access may be limited or removed.
20. Security and international processing
GolfDock uses technical and organizational measures intended to protect personal information, including access controls, row-level security, server-side authorization, rate limiting, and restricted service credentials. No system can guarantee absolute security. Service providers may process information in locations outside your state or country subject to their contractual and legal safeguards.
21. Changes and contact
GolfDock may update this Privacy Policy as features, processors, laws, or operational practices change. Material updates will be posted here with a new date. For privacy questions, use the Privacy Requests page or contact support@golfdock.app.
