How to track your golf club distances
Record the club, start and finish positions, and whether it was a normal full swing. Use several comparable shots to estimate a stock distance.

Separate carry from total
GPS between a shot’s start and finish generally measures displacement to the finishing location. It does not tell you where the ball first landed. Label it total distance unless carry was independently measured; do not compare it directly with launch-monitor carry.
Keep useful context
Note wind, elevation, partial swings, recovery shots and mishits. Keep them in your history but separate them from stock full swings. A punch-out with a 7-iron should not redefine a normal 7-iron distance.
Look for the typical shot
For comparable distances of 142, 145, 146, 148 and 171 yards, the middle value is 146. That is a more useful starting expectation than using the longest shot as stock. Review whether the outlier was downhill or had unusually long rollout.
Review before trusting
Use shot review and My Bag to check clubs and recorded information. Treat automatic detections as candidates to review. Compare adjacent clubs with the same distance definition and similar conditions. A tiny sample does not establish a reliable gap.
