Golf league first-night checklist
Make the first night easy to join, easy to score and easy to close. Rehearse with one member who did not help set it up.

Send a useful invitation
Tell members the date, arrival time, course layout, expected holes, tees and who to contact. Explain whether the link joins the league or a particular round. Those are different actions. Ask one unfamiliar member to follow the invitation on the device they will bring. A link that works for an administrator already signed in does not establish the new-member experience.
Write the scoring agreement
Choose individual or team scoring, gross or net comparison, handicap policy, missed rounds and tie handling. State who enters scores and how a correction gets approved. Keep the agreement short enough to read before the first tee, with detailed rules available separately. Do not assume every member has used the same league format elsewhere.
Assign three responsibilities
Give one person responsibility for arrivals, one for scoring questions and one for reviewing the results. A small league may have one organizer wearing all three hats; writing them down still prevents gaps. Keep an offline contact route if a golfer cannot sign in or loses reception. A printed roster and a blank scorecard are inexpensive backup tools.
Rehearse one complete round path
Before league night, use an isolated practice round to join, enter a score, correct it and find the result. Include the ordinary member view and the organizer view. Confirm that practice data will not appear in official standings. Rehearsal is especially useful when the league uses a course layout or tee combination that has not been used before.
End with a clear status
Mark results provisional while cards or corrections are outstanding. Send members one short update naming the next action and when to expect final standings. For example: “Week 1 scoring complete except one card; corrections close Friday at noon; final standings follow review.” Ask what was confusing and fix that one step before adding extra features next week.
