How to track golf scores with friends
Choose the course, tees and format together, confirm who records scores, and review each golfer’s card before saving.

Start in the same round
Check the layout, nine or eighteen holes, and selected tees before anyone starts. A facility name is not enough when it contains several layouts. Confirm everyone is looking at the intended round and players.
Agree who enters each score
Have every golfer confirm their strokes, including penalties. If a designated scorer enters them, a quick “four, five, four, six” at the next tee prevents confusion. Putts are already part of the stroke total, not something to add again.
Handle interruptions explicitly
A missing score is unfinished, not par. If a phone loses connection, verify the card has synchronized before treating a leaderboard as current. Keep a simple backup when reception is unreliable.
Finish each card carefully
Check front-nine and back-nine totals and resolve missing holes. Normal shared rounds and organizer-managed events may have different completion rules. Follow the organizer’s verification process before treating event results as final.
